ACH Phishing Email Scam

As part of our ongoing effort to protect you from fraud, we feel it necessary to inform you of a new scam. The scam involves a fraudulent email purporting to be from NACHA, the National Automated Clearing House Association, bearing a subject line that reads "Rejected ACH transaction", "Your ACH transaction has been cancelled" or similar.

The body of the fraudulent email then instructs the recipient to click on a link for details. Do not click this link. It will launch a variant of the Zeus (Zbot) information stealing trojan on your computer. This scam is well documented and additional details and a sample of one of these fraudulent emails can be found here:

NACHA itself does not process nor touch the ACH transactions that flow to and from organizations and financial institutions. NACHA does not send communications to individuals or organizations about individual ACH transactions that they originate or receive.

If you have any questions about a suspicious email that you have received. Please contact us at clientcare@mcbvi.com prior to taking any action that the email encourages.
